Day 1.

When we signed up for Image X, we were able to choose two photographers whose workshops we would like to attend. For the first day, I chose Tamara Lackey. She is an amazing photographer based out of North Carolina. I LOVED that I had her for my first day because she pours out energy that motivates and excites! She answered any question that was thrown at her with ease and with an eagerness to teach us. Tamara proved to me that anything you set your mind to and work hard for - you can truly achieve. Not only does she love photography but she also loves to write. She allowed me to see the opportunity of creating something far more than you imagine. Needless to say, maybe that explains my lengthy blog entries! :)

Why do I love photography? I believe every human being is beautiful. I believe through a picture you can see who that person truly is. And by doing that, it gives loved ones the opportunity to cherish moments that can be remembered for years and years. Tamara has spent a lot of time studying the different personalities of children that she may photograph and how to best approach them. I was fascinated and can not wait to use the techniques she discussed at my next photo session. Here is a poem that she shared with us and I absolutely cherish these words because they are so true.

Do you know who you are?

You are a marvel.

You are unique.

In all the world there is no other child

exactly like you.

In the millions of years that have passed

there has never

been a child like you.

And look at your body-

what a wonder it is!

Your legs, your arms, your cunning fingers,

the way you move! You may

be a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a

Beethoven. You have the capacity

for anything.
